Sergio Perez is under mounting pressure at Red Bull following a succession of poor performances, with several candidates being put forward to replace the 33-year-old
Sergio Perez has laughed off suggestions he will retire at the end of the season and claims he will sign another contract when his time at Red Bull comes to an end.
The Mexican has made some high-profile mistakes, crashing out of the Japanese Grand Prix and incurring two-time penalties at the Qatar Grand Prix. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has admitted that there has been “quite a bit of interest” in Perez’s position amid rumours the team could promote a driver from AlphaTauri.
“No, I have a contract for next year, and no reason not to respect that contract. I’m going to give my very best to it. I’ve made a commitment but, more than that, it will not be my final contract in F1.”
