Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could be forced to dip into the transfer market to sign a free agent with the futures of Antony and Jadon Sancho in doubt
Erik ten Hag is eyeing up the 28-year-old, who once played for Everton and Aston Villa, after Antony was told to stay away from Old Trafford to address personal issues following allegations of assault by three women. The Brazilian, 23, has denied the allegations.
With the futures of Antony and Sancho in doubt, Ten Hag has been forced to look elsewhere to solve his striker crisis. Yet signing El Ghazi would raise eyebrows due to his working relationship with Ten Hag's predecessor at Ajax, Peter Bosz. El Ghazi later moved to England to become a cult hero at Villa. He scored in their 2-1 victory against Derby in the 2019 Championship play-off final and bagged 10 goals during 2020/21 Premier League campaign before slipping down the pecking order at Villa Park.
"We had not had any contact since then, so I can also imagine that it was a shock for him that I would become his trainer again.
