Election Threat Looming Over November 29th Running Events
Running, Elections, November 29

The possibility of a national election on November 29 has raised alarms among organizers of major running competitions, including the Sevilla Half Marathon and the Elche-Alicante Marathon. With large crowds and fixed schedules, they fear disruptions similar to those seen in 2019, where elections forced event rescheduling to accommodate voting logistics.

Organizers of upcoming running events, including the Sevilla Half Marathon, the Jean Bouin race, the Córdoba Half Marathon, and the Elche-Alicante Marathon, are on high alert.

The potential for a snap national election on November 29 has them concerned about clashes with voting logistics. While the 2019 election saw Madrid's marathon shifted to Saturday, other races like the Behobia-San Sebastián managed to coexist with polling stations. If elections are indeed held on November 29 - or the following Sunday, which conflicts with the Valencia Marathon - it could significantly disrupt the running calendar.
