The website for Irish women

It’s ticking ever closer to throw in between Mayo and Dublin in the All-Ireland final in what many people are hoping will be one of the games of the season.

Mayo fans are desperately hoping that this will be their year after so many years of heartbreak. We guess we’ll know come half five on Sunday on that front. Siobhan Tighe is a Mayo woman living in Dublin city, in an area where she says there’s a wonderful community feel. As the only Mayo person on the avenue, her house sticks out like a sore thumb during the football season when the house is adorned with red and green flags to support her county and she receives some light-hearted jibes from her neighbours.

Speaking with our colleagues at JOE.i, Siobhan said: “Last year on All-Ireland Final day morning, my neighbour Mary knocks on my door and says ‘On behalf of the residents on the street we’d like to make a complaint regarding the Mayo bunting.'”Siobhan returned home from work to find that her front door had been painted the Dublin colours and as luck with have it, she lives in number 16, so you can probably guess what they did.
