At the beginning of January 2023, Jan_Kuhlmann will take over as DW's Head of Middle East. He was previously head of the Middle East regional office of news agency dpa.
Kuhlmann studied history with a focus on the Middle East, Islamic studies, Arabic and economics at the University of Hamburg an
d the American University in Cairo . As dpa correspondent for the Arab countries, he was responsible for covering the region as well as Israel, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan for the past eight years.
