Andy Farrell will be relieved as Sheehan's foot issue has proved not to be as serious as was feared
Dan Sheehan will travel to the Rugby World Cup after receiving positive news about the foot injury he sustained in last Saturday's warm-up Test against England.
Sheehan, 24, is Ireland's first choice hooker and was forced to come off before half-time at the Aviva Stadium last weekend, with Farrell later revealing that he had "lost power in his foot".Along with Jack Conan - who suffered a similar issue against Italy a fortnight earlier - and Dave Kilcoyne, he did not travel to the south-west of France on Sunday ahead of this weekend's final warm-up clash with Samoa in Bayonne as the trio stayed behind to rehab.
Speaking on Tuesday, assistant Ireland coach Mike Catt said that the likelihood would be that Sheehan would travel because of what he brings to the team when available.
