Many had high hopes that he would take over the show

Daithi O Se has revealed that he would have gone for the role of Late Late Show host if he had been asked.

Patrick Kielty landed the role in the end, but Daithi admits he would have considered it if he was asked."If you were offered, you'd be an idiot not to take it because it's the biggest gig in town," he said. "But I don't even consider something until someone asks if I'm interested in doing it. I'm happy with my own lot as opposed to looking into someone else's garden.

"I was at the Willie Clancy Weekend in Co Claire where I heard two fellows joking about barter accounts in a bar but apart from that, nothing," he said. "I thought that there might be a backlash, but there wasn't."
