The teenager, who suffered with a rare form of epilepsy, was surrounded by her loved ones when she passed away in Cork University Hospital on Friday night. Before the pandemic, Ms Twomey had to travel to Holland every 12 weeks to collect medicinal cannabis for her daughter.People Before Profit TD Gino Kenny has paid tribute to Ava. He told The Journal. "It's a very, very sad time for the family and the many people that supported Vera and Ava to get access to medicinal cannabis.
"Obviously Vera's family had to go through a long, long, long process to get access for Ava. But that process had made it easier for other families to get access."The amount of goodwill that was shown by the Irish people was unbelievable. That eventually did change the law in Ireland, in terms of access.
