The former RTE broadcaster and journalist says his health is deteriorating quickly so is having a feeding tube fitted in hopes to improve his quality of life
Charlie Bird has made a "major" decision to improve his quality of life as he continues his battle with Motor Neurone Disease.
"Some say it won’t extend my life, but it will improve my quality of life. I mean this, it will help me to extend the hand of friendship to people in dark place.""I hope you get a lot more comfort with it,” one user wrote. While a third added: "You'll be more comfortable when the procedure is complete Charlie, may you recover well. I've taken care of individuals in the past that had the same procedure. It certainly will improve your quality of life. Hugs and prayers for you."However, he said the support he has received from people across Ireland has contributed enormously to helping him stay alive.
