The legendary broadcaster slipped from his couch at the end of Ireland vs Tonga on Saturday
Charlie Bird has shared a heartbreaking update from his home as he continues to struggle with Motor Neurone Disease , opening up about a "scary” fall he suffered following the Ireland vs. Tonga match at the weekend.
On Sunday, the former journalist revealed that after watching the Ireland match on Saturday night he slipped from the coach onto the ground but a neighbour was thankfully able to help him up. Taking to social media, the 74-year-old long-term RTÉ reporter explained that the experience was scary but that he is now okay and thanked his followers.“But at the end, I slipped from the sofa and fell to the ground, Claire could not get me up, eventually a great neighbour extended the hand of friendship and got me up. Yes, it was scary, but I’m ok now. Thanks.”
