I have lived with my partner, in his home, for 11 years.
I appreciate the door should always be left open for his daughter, but I feel so unhappy now that she’s here. If you continue to feel this way, it will probably help to talk to him about it. Explain that while you appreciate that it’s his house, it would have been nice to at least have been told. At first, I was only thinking about moving in together. However, over time, I thought more about marriage, but he would always say that he wasn’t ready as he was focusing on work.
I suppose it’s possible he has been so wrapped up in his job that he’s just not had time to think about his relationship with you, but I find that unlikely.
