Ireland spurned a host of other chances and their latest victory was more convincing than the scoreline suggests. Latvia goalkeeper Janis Beks made fine saves to thwart Tony Springett and Sinclair Armstrong, who later saw his flick from Springett’s cross hit a post. Oko-Flex was denied a hat-trick by another full-length save from Beks, who also kept out efforts from Ireland substitutes Zak Gilsenan and Aidomo Emakhu.
