Former newsreader Anne Doyle has revealed how she got into a bit of trouble for her facial expression while reading the news, and so changed up her hair to conceal it
Anne Doyle is one of Ireland's most recognisable faces, appearing in the living rooms of most Irish households for decades to deliver our evening news, before retiring early in 2011.The broadcaster has opened up about one memory from her time news reading that really sticks out to her - when she changed up her hairstyle after receiving a pointed letter from one viewer.
On this morning's Nine O’Clock Show on RTÉ Radio 1 , she told Brendan Courtney that she "got into trouble for lifting my eyebrow."She then went on to grow out her fringe to allow her to hide her tell-tale eyebrow."But she said that she would really like to draw attention that I was editorialising my eyebrow and she had noticed that sometimes when I was dealing with something that quite clearly didn't meet my particular approval, I was inclined to lift the aul eyebrow.
"I had to try and train myself not to do it, so eventually [I thought] ah there is one handy way to do this, grow the fringe longer." Anne was on the show to chat about her new book Tales of the Otherworld: A Frightening Collection of Irish Ghost Stories.Get the latest RSVP headlines straight to your inbox for free by signing up to our newsletter
