The rise in interest in international media outlets amongst Irish consumers that pay for news should sound alarm bells at all Irish media organisations - this one included.
While the Irish editions of British tabloids have long had a strong base here, the premium end of the newspaper market was generally made up of native brands, augmented by international correspondents and wire services.
