Alan Hughes has revealed his own stalker hell as he sympathised with Holly Willoughby’s decision to step back and protect her family.
"We had to get the police up to the station because he was mentioning other presenters and knew where they lived. He said I met him out in town – I’d never met him."He explained: "He found out where I lived and knocked on my door one night and I opened the door. I was able to say to him, I was on my own in the house, I just said there’s somebody here and I just closed the door. I remember then it got quite serious and the police were involved and brought him to the station.
"But I do think your health, safety and family have to come before any career move you make. Look she’ll be back in the new year, probably to do Dancing on Ice when this all dies down. She has her own brands, there’s no stopping her but I think this is the right decision for the moment." In a lengthy tribute, she said: "She will always be the best presenter I have ever worked with and she has made me and I know so many others a better person."
