There were reports of fumes in the cockpit
An Air France flight en route to Paris that departed Dublin Airport this evening has declared an emergency with reports of fumes in the cockpit of the aircraft.
Just after 6pm on Wednesday evening, flight number AF1817 headed out of Ireland’s busiest airport, due to land at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris at around 8:15pm local time. According to AirLive, while the plane was cruising at an altitude of 35,000 feet, the crew declared an emergency just west of London, with the flight subsequently diverting to London's Heathrow Airport at around 7pm where it remains.The plane was met by fire trucks on landing at runway 27L. It was then isolated south of the airport, near terminal four. Passengers were asked to disembark from the plane around an hour later.
There were several reports from air tracking sources that confirmed pilots reported a smell of fumes in the cockpit. The cause of the fumes is not clear and no further details have been released. A Heathrow Airport spokesperson told the Daily Star the plane landed safely and passengers have disembarked from the aircraft but could not provide more information.Join our new WhatsApp community!
